What is Pocket Check?

Pocket Check is a range of simple tests to identify symptoms of important diseases on garden and glasshouse plants

The tests are based on the home pregnancy test, giving you a simple to understand reading of whether an infection is present or not.  Tests are available for 8 diseases affecting tomato and potato crops.

Just as with sickness in humans and animals, early diagnosis of plant disease is important.  Acting quickly will protect the yield and quality of your crops, meaning you harvest more at the end of the season.

Pocket Check tests all work in the same way.  Each test kit comes complete with everything you need to test one sample of plant for the two diseases shown on the pack.   Tests take less than 10 minutes to carry out, and can be done in the garden or glasshouse – wherever your plants are growing.

Once you've spotted disease symptoms, there are four simple steps to testing your plants:

Step 1. Add a small sample of leaf, stem or flower into the bottle of liquid.

Step 2. Shake the bottle firmly for 20-30 seconds

Step 3. Add two drops of the bottle contents onto the test device

Step 4. Wait 3 - 5 minutes before reading the result.  One line is negative (disease not detected), two lines are positive (disease detected).

Pocket Check products are safe, but should be kept out of the reach of children due to the kits containing small parts.
